HABITS after spending large amounts of food so it is put in the refrigerator. In fact, different types of food, storage is also different in the refrigerator to keep it fresh.

Following proper food storage location in the refrigerator.

Fruits and vegetables
Fruits and vegetables can last longer when stored in damp places. Keep container in the fridge, which is in the fruit and vegetable drawers.

It’s also important to separate the storage of fruits vegetables. Most fruits out of gas called ethylene, and many types of vegetables that are sensitive to the gas, which easily rot.

Most importantly, do not also store fruit or fresh vegetables to an airtight container as it will make it wilt and rot quickly. Instead, dispose of vegetables and fruits that are bruised or rotten so not to contaminate others.

dairy
Put the milk and yogurt on the shelf above the refrigerator or the center. Keep dairy products from strong-smelling foods which can damage it.

While, put eggs on the lower shelf so as not to lose moisture or absorb unwanted flavors. Such as fruit and vegetables, cheese needed a warm place, so it should be put in the drawer with the right humidity.

Meat and seafood
Meat and seafood should be stored in the bottom of the refrigerator shelves. Make sure the food is always separate from other foods to prevent cross-contamination.

seasoning
Seasoning will not last long in the refrigerator due to frequent use, so you should place it on a shelf in the refrigerator where the temperature is always fluctuating up and down.

leftovers
In order to be able to enjoy the rest of the food before it spoils, place it on a shelf where you can see it, such as the top or middle shelf. If you’ve passed four days and you do not eat it, put it in the freezer to keep them fresh or you should discard it.

New Year Resolution to Lose Weight and Get Fit

With the forthcoming New Year, many people make New Year Resolutions. The most popular new year resolutions are to lose weight, get fit, eat right and reduce stress.

All these four goals are actually intrinsically linked to one another. The lose weight, you must start to exercise more (get fit) and start to eat healthier, more nutritious foods to provide you with the energy required to be more active, without putting on even more weight. It is worth reminding you here that to lose weight may actually require you to eat a little more in the long term, assuming you do not exercise now. Stress can be caused by many factors, but generally people that feel that they are in greater control of their personal lives find it easier to control stress in their working lives. So being more confident as a result of being fitter and healthier can lead to a reduction in stress. So, how do you stick to the plan?

Let’s break the resolutions down, and look at each in isolation.

Lose Weight
OK, as already mentioned, to lose weight we merely need to increase physical activity and eat a healthier, more balanced diet. The best way to do this is to set yourself goals. If you know that your diet is not ideal, but are not sure exactly where you are going wrong, then you must keep a food diary for a couple of weeks at the start of the New Year. This will quickly highlight where you are going wrong. Make sure that you write down everything that you eat and drink during these two weeks. It is best to keep a note of when you eat too, so that at the end of the two weeks you will have a picture of your eating habits in the morning, afternoon and evening. Many people eat too much in the evening after a busy and stressful day. This is most likely going to be the area you need to concentrate on!

Get Fit
Getting fit is a life long goal for many people. So how do you stick to a New Year resolution to get fit? The best way is to set goals, write an exercise schedule (and stick to it) and keep a training diary.

Goals
Goals can be based on endurance (exercising for longer periods each session), strength (lifting heavier weights, or lifting more repetitions of the same weight), frequency (exercising more often, such as 3 times a week, twice a day). When setting goals, always set goals that are attainable. If you have not exercised for 5 years, then setting a goal of running 5 miles a day by the end of January, or running in the London Marathon in the Spring, will be very difficult to achieve. And failing your own goals does you no good regarding self esteem and motivation. So keep the goals simple. My personal goals generally include the following:

1. Exercising more each week (by attending an extra kick boxing class, or by going for a run at the weekends).

2. Lifting heavier weights – when weight training it is impossible to achieve this goal without a lot of hard work, so again I do not specify how much heavier the weights should be, but simply be happy if they are heavier after a month.

3. Performing more repetitions of an exercise. This is very useful when doing circuit training in the gym or at home. For example, you could aim to do one more repetition each day you exercise. This seems like a very small increase, but if you exercise 3 times a week, with just press ups, sit ups, star jumps and squat thrusts, and you start by performing 10 exercises of each in one session, then by the end of January you will be performing 22 of each. By the end of February it will have increased to about 35 of each, and by the time spring comes you will be performing maybe over 50 repetitions of each exercise 3 or 4 times a week. So, small incremental increases are to way to make steady, attainable, progress.

4. Exercising for longer. This can again apply to circuit training at home, such as exercising for an extra 5 minutes each session each week. So start by exercising for 15 minutes, and by the spring you will be exercising for 1 hour and 20 minutes each session, which could be 3 times a week! You will soon get fit, if you stick to the plan!. If you prefer to cycle, run, walk or swim for fitness, then the same applies. Spend a little more time each week, and the improvements will keep coming.

Eat Healthier
This is possible the hardest thing to do well. Most people are well aware of what food is good for them, and what is not. If you are unsure check out our diet pages. The problem is sticking to the plan.

Alkaline Foods and Baby Gender

Lately, I’ve been getting a lot of emails asking me questions about PH and conception. Specific concerns are things like: how do alkaline foods affect baby gender and sex; whether you’ll get a boy or a girl if you consume an alkaline diet, and which foods have a low PH and would therefore fit this criteria. I’ll address these questions in the following article and tell you some other things to consider if you’re trying to determine or influence your baby’s gender.

PH And How It Influences Your Future Baby’s Gender:  There are actually three things that come in to play here – the timing of your conception, the sexual positions that you use when you try to conceive, and the PH that you have when this conception occurs.  In terms of PH, an alkaline reading on the mother to be would make the chances of conceiving a boy greater, while an acidic reading would increases the chances of a girl.  Here’s why.

The sperm that will give you a son are pretty short lived. They can only live for a day or so.  The opposite is true for the sperm that produces a daughter – it can live for several days.  But, if you want a daughter, you want to weed out the Y (boy sperm) and if you want a son, you’ll want to weed out the X (girl sperm.)

Your PH comes into play because you can manipulate it so that your vagina is unfriendly to the sperm holding the chromosome of the gender that you don’t want. As stated earlier, if you’re going for an alkaline environment, you’re setting yourself up for a boy conception because this state is more friendly to the players in this game.  If you’re going for an acidic environment, you’re setting yourself up for a girl conception because the Y’s will just wither and weaken when your PH is too high.

What Foods Are Alkaline: So hopefully, if you’re found this article, you want a boy and are on board with an alkaline diet.  Most foods that are alkaline fall into the fruit and vegetable category and avoid meats and dairy.  There are some exceptions of course, but more common examples are things like celery, lettuce, asparagus, lemon, watermelon, grapefruit, green tea, almonds, and sunflower seeds.  You want to avoid milk, breads and pastas, most meats, and sugars / convenience foods.

I realize that this list may not seem too appealing.  But, you only have to do this for as long as it takes to get a PH tester strip to get you the low reading that you need.  Once you get this, you’ll only need to maintain what you’ve done and continue to use the test strips to ensure that you aren’t sneaking back up.

Douching Can Alkalize Too:  If this diet seems not so fun, know that you can also use douches to help this process along.  In fact, douching with solutions based on your reading and your time frame can yield much more dramatic results.  Again, you’re not in this indefinitely, just until the little strip reaches that magic number (and stays there.)

Moving On: OK, we’ve covered food and douching, so now let’s think about timing.  If you want a boy, you want to get active on the day of ovulation.  For a girl, you want to get active much earlier – three to four days prior to the egg’s release.  And, you want deeper penetration for a boy conception and the opposite if you want a daughter.

Unbeatable Cobb Cooking Tips

If you’ve never heard of Cobb cooking you’re in for a treat! Man has been cooking over fire for thousands of years and over that time many different types of cooking pots and ovens came into being. At the peak of all these millennia of design comes the Cobb oven and grill. Produced by Cobb America it is a small portable cooking stove that takes advantage of modern design technology. Cobb cooking is a pleasure. I first saw the Cobb cooking on a camping vacation where a neighbour was using one. We got chatting and I was just so impressed with its versatility. I was tempted to find a stockist and buy one then, but instead left it until after the holiday.

My first attempt at Cobb cooking was a family BBQ for 6 people. The Cobb was the centre of attention and the food was amazing. It wasn’t easy to believe just how little charcoal I used either, only 8 briquettes for over 2 hours cooking time. I don’t know how many Cobb’s have sold as a result of that BBQ but I do know of at least three locally. What a piece of kit it is.

One of the most surprising aspects of the Cobb is that it can also be used successfully for slow cooking, simply by reducing the amount of charcoal in the bottom. It will perform very happily with only 2 or 3 briquettes as long as they are properly alight first. You can also use the Cobb for smoking fish and various other meats. I would point out that if you are smoking fish please be aware that the fish should have been previously frozen at -15c for several hours, or, if the fish is freshly caught, make sure that during smoking the fish heats to a point where the meat lifts off the bone. This will destroy any harmful parasites.

The internal temperatures that the Cobb achieves are about 500 degrees Fahrenheit, or 260 degrees centigrade. This is comparable to a domestic oven and makes Cobb cooking a delight.
